Robert is a full-time practicing mediator, arbitrator,
facilitator, ADR instructor and discovery referee. His specializations include complex international and domestic commercial, business and intellectual property disputes; as well as major death and injury, insurance, employment, real estate, and “Lemon law” disputes.

Having been a proud member of the inaugural Master of Laws (LL.M) class at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, Pepperdine Law School, Robert chose international dispute resolution as his area of emphasis. He has been featured as a speaker and trained lawyer groups ranging from the International Trademark Association to the Centre for International Legal Studies (CILS) on how to make better use of dispute resolution processes in the international marketplace. He also frequently trains local mediators, lawyers, judges and professional societies and lectures on dispute resolution.
Among his accomplishments, Robert had the distinguished privilege to serve as a Visiting Scholar at the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law - UNCITRAL - in Vienna, Austria. There, he assisted in the completion of the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Conciliation, a comprehensive analysis of the dispute resolution methods used around the globe.
A member of the prestigious adjunct faculty at Straus, Robert teaches Cross-Cultural Negotiation, International Commercial Dispute Resolution, and the ADR Survey courses in Orange County and Malibu. Robert will also be directing the Straus Orange County Centre Mediation Clinic this Fall.
The Institute consistently ranks as one of the nation's finest dispute resolution programs largely because of its skills-based approach to training a diverse student body of judges, lawyers, doctors and other accomplished professionals.
Since first gaining admittance to the California Bar in 1978, Robert has represented individual and organizational clients both domestically and abroad, and in business, probate and real estate disputes, and transactional matters. Robert has also acted as counsel to several non-profit organizations, including the foundation originated by local Hall of Fame football legend David "Deacon" Jones.
Robert is a 26-year Laguna Beach resident, a recent returnee-longboarder, a persistent student at the wonderful game of golf, an avid enthusiast of America's long-held pastime of baseball and the proud survivor of some Don Drysdale "chin-music" on a joyous day in Mudville.
